waiting list

We used Eventbrite for 13 years... Eventive is much much better however, one feature of Eventbrite is their automated waiting list. This is very good. When a show is sold out, spectator have the option to put themselves on a waiting list; if a booking is cancelled they get notified a seat a available. COULD WE HAVE THAT ON EVENTIVE PLEASE! THE SPECTATORS ASK US FOR IT.

Yes, especially important when ticketing free events that may have cancellations.

Right now, our solution is to change the "Sold out" button label to "Join Waitlist", and link to a Google form in the sold out message.
We then send mailings asking attendees to let us know via email if they can no longer attend.
Tickets are distributed to those on the waitlist using a 2nd ticket bucket, which has "public for online customer orders" disabled, and "exclude quantity from total event capacity" enabled.
This, as far as I know, only works for free events; or events that we are giving those on the waitlist free tickets, since the waitlist ticket bucket is not public.
It would be great if the waitlist lived in Eventive and we could select people from the waitlist and send them a link to purchase tickets once they open up, without opening them up to the public.

Our executive director also requests this a lot. Seconded because I'm not a fan of overselling events. It's nice to get a room filled but a nightmare for box office staff to potentially upset a customer. My fear is that could always potentially get violent and someone could get hurt. But we have not had an alternative to suggest other than ticket cancellations so other users can view the tickets, which doesn't always happen either. I think something that would be nice would be prompts that remind users the waitlist is active and that it is common courtesy to cancel tickets they don't want anymore so another user can have their seat on the waitlist. (We use the waiver feature to let folks know now but reminders & other pop ups would be nice because there's no guarantee they're gonna read something that says waiver.) Another feature that would be really awesome for us would be an arrival deadline before tickets are released. Such as scanned during arrival 15 minutes prior to an event. And maybe a grace period. That way we aren't always forced to use rush line right away and we can allow like a 2 minute buffer or something.

This is especially helpful for fanbase events or group sales. Sometimes we sell showtimes to a group; but could expand the venue if we knew how many paying customers would buy a ticket in advance, and then charge them if we expand or refund their card if we don't.

HI Olivier Stockman, we have considered adding a waitlist feature. I'll bump this up for us to look at more closely. We have quite a number of big updates coming up, so if we can get to this, I'm not sure where that would slot in. Are there any other parts of this feature you've found most useful, for you as the organizer, or for end users?
