Geoblock films, not screenings

Geoblocking should be a per-film setting. If a film needs to be geoblocked it probably doesn't change depending on what virtual screening it's part of.
Also, if you have a geoblocked film that's part of a screening you either have to block the entire screening (including films without restrictions) or create multiple versions of the screening and somehow toggle users between them according to region.

Definitely needed.

It's unlikely we would implement this, because if someone's purchasing a ticket to a screening, they should be permitted to see the entire program - we certainly understand the programming challenge, though it would be unfair to the audience if they were not permitted to view one of the films they had purchased a ticket for. For now, Marilyn's workaround below is the best option here. :)

Erne Murphy: I also agree that being able to geoblock by film would be extremely valuable. We had films during our festival that due to distribution deals, were not available in, say, their home country, but they were available everywhere else. Because of that one film, the entire program was inaccessible in the country which was a real shame. We tried to work around this as best as possible with programming but it didn't always work out. The option to have a individual geoblocking per film would be IDEAL

Erne Murphy: To make sure I understand, you're suggesting waiving the 99 cent DRM fee on standalone short films as a solution?
Erne Murphy
Sean Coffman: Hi Sean! My apologies for lack of clarification; what I meant is that in some instances we have worked out a reduced unlock fee for screenings that only contain one short film. :)

I agree this would be really valuable. It would be nice to set the geo-block at the film level instead at the Virtual Festival level. Then we could mix films within a shorts block. I see the rationale for how it's currently set up, but with the way ticketing works if I have a film that has it's own geo-block I basically have to have it sitting off to the side on its own.

Sibyl Santiago Erne Murphy Sean Coffman: I have this issue in several blocks of short films. I got around it by duplicating the entire Virtual Screening and setting different geoblock instructions for the two Screenings (e.g. USA only for the full program, everywhere except USA for the program from which the geoblocked film is removed). In two cases I had to create three screenings because I had two films with different geoblock requirements. It's clunky but it seems to work. Also helpful to put the geoblock info in the name of the screening: "Great Comedy Shorts (All except China, DPRK, Russia)", "Great Comedy Shorts (China, DPRK, Russia only)."
